Basic Altar

Place elemental items in each direction.

North: Earth
Things to put on your altar: stones, dirt, sticks, personal items, metals, wand, plants, vegetables, herbs, crystals, seeds, pentacles, pinecones, acorns, and pine needles.
East: Air
Things to put on altar: Incense, fairy wings, feather, sword, balloon, sage, book/journal, memory of a loved one, and singing bowl.
South: Fire
Things to put on altar: candle, jar of fire, ashes, sun, coal, carnelian, amber, citrine, garnet, anything you hand made, and a knife or wand.
West: Water
Things to put on your altar: jar of water, moon, moon water, snow, ice, lapis, aquamarine, opal, pearl, amethyst, selenite, shells, and sand.

Place spirit items in the middle.
Middle: Spirit
Things to put on your altar: Statues of the fae, god and goddess statues, black or white candles, pictures of gods and goddesses, pictures of dragons, pictures of the fae, and pentacles.

Cover your altar in items that represent what you are using it for. For example a summer solstice altar should have fruits, flowers, vegetable, and leaves.

When casting a spell, use a candle that is the color that represents the element you are working with. For example, when doing a luck spell use a green, brown, or white.
