Palm Reading

Palmistry, or chiromancy is the ability to read people and foretell  the future through the study of the palm, also known as chirology, or in popular culture as palm reading. The practice is found all over the world, with numerous cultural variations. The reader typically reads the lines on your dominant hand, reading the softer lines as things you feel you need to work on and the defined lines as the things you feel you have done well. The defined lines can also symbolize more prominent aspects of your personality and day to day life.

I have been practicing the art of palm reading since I was 9 years old. It always made sense to me that the lines on your body symbolize how you live. The wrinkles on our faces show off how often we smile and frown. The stretch marks covering our bodies show how and where we have grown. Lines can show sun exposure, age, and lifestyle choices. The veins running through our hands and feet show how often we stand and work with our hands. Lines and markings can show health, genetics, and past trauma. It only makes sense that the lines on our hands have the potential to tell us about the life we have lived. Lines predicting the future is explained in many different ways. It depends on what culture you are influenced by and how you chose to learn the craft. In my opinion it is just the idea that, if you have had a certain personality trait for the past ten years then you are probably going to continue to have that trait for the next ten years. Therefor if you have been using your hands in the same way to create very specific wrinkles and lines, then you are probably going to continue to move and behave in that way in the future.

Wiccans believe that everything and everyone is connected. To enhance this belief within our spirituality we compare and relate everything to nature and the elements. The typical elements used are, earth, air, fire, and water. Iron, sex, and other metals are often thrown in as well. In my coven we typically only use earth, air, fire, and water. Those four elements are what make up everything on the planet in essence. Earth is used to describe anything and everything that comes from the earth and can be found within it. Palm reading has its own variation, on how to relate the shape and character of your hands to the elements on this planet.

In most schools of palmistry, hand shapes are divided into four or eleven major types, sometimes corresponding to the classical elements or temperaments. Hand shape is believed to indicate character traits corresponding to the type indicated.

Earth hands are generally identified by broad, square palms and fingers, thick or coarse skin, and ruddy color. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Air hands exhibit square or rectangular palms with long fingers and sometimes protruding knuckles, low-set thumbs, and often dry skin. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Water hands are classified by the long, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible, conical fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Fire hands are characterized by a square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually greater than the length of the fingers.

I was initiated by a shaman who was very interested in the lines and markings on peoples faces, hands, and bodies. She was a master in facial readings, body language and intuition based people reading. She took the spiritual path of a healer and in order to progress she studied and embraced the art of understanding someones problems without the person telling her what they were. This skill helped her to empathize with people even if they couldn't express in words how they were feeling or what they had been through. As her student, I became very interested in her abilities and her craft, which led me to take classes within my coven based in the ability to read peoples feelings, emotions, body language, facial markings and body lines. I have taken 55 difference classes from different instructors. Some classes were from my coven leaders, some were from other masters of the craft, and some were even at state universities.
